TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | Florida A&M University head men’s basketball coach Robert McCullum announced the signing of Jai Clark on Tuesday.
Clark, who played at Apopka High School in Apopka, Fla., comes to FAMU from Indian River State College. Last season as a freshman, the 6-foot-3 guard, averaged 14.9 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 31 games played. He shot 42.5 percent from the floor, 43.0 percent from behind the 3-point line and 78.6 percent from the free-throw line. In addition, Clark was named First-Team All-Conference
“We’re elated over Jai’s decision to attend FAMU,” McCullum said. “With the impact of the 3-point shot, and the NCAA Division I 3-point line being moved further out, it was imperative for us to sign perimeter players that are outstanding 3 point shooters. While Jai, like all college players, will have to adjust to the longer distance, the 139 threes he made as a freshman are simply outstanding. Our top recruiting priorities for the 2020 class was to add size, and become a better perimeter shooting team. We expect Jai and Jalen to make their presence felt immediately offensively, while Trey’s size and ability to rebound will make a difference on the interior.”
